Our Top 5 Picks

  1. Wilson Golf SGI Women’s Complete Golf Set (Most Worth-it Beginner Ladies Set)
  2. Callaway Women’s Strata Ultimate 14-Piece Golf Set (Best Mix Of Amazing Design And Performance)
  3. Aspire PRO-X Women’s Golf Club Set (Best Option for Forgiveness)
  4. TaylorMade Kalea Women’s Golf Club Set (Best High-Quality Golf Set For Female Beginners)
  5. Callaway Solaire Women’s Golf Set (Another Amazing Women’s Golf Set)

1. Wilson Golf SGI Women’s Complete Golf Set (Most Worth it Beginner Ladies Set)

  • Very consistent and easy to hit cavity irons
  • Comes with an excellent sand wedge that not many sets provide
  • Lightweight and comfortable golf bag
  • Most affordable set on this list
  • Fills all yardage gaps
  • Size customization (Petite, Standard, and Tall)
  • It has a less forgiving blade-style putter

The Wilson Golf SGI Women’s Complete Club Set takes the stage as the best set of women’s golf clubs for beginners.

Engineered precisely for a women’s swing, which tends to be slower than most men’s (but definitely not always the case), this set features extremely deep, perimeter-weighted cavity irons made with high-quality 431 Stainless Steel, giving good mishit forgiveness and a solid ‘punch’ feel on golf shots. The irons are designed with a very low center of gravity for improved accuracy at hitting the balls long with ease.

The higher lofted driver, 5-wood, and 5-hybrid feature grips and shafts that are similar to the irons, and the oversized heads with the large sweet spot are well balanced and are known to inspire confidence. Finding distance with the SGI woods is well part of the package. The head covers are loose fitting but serve their purpose adequately.

Now let’s talk about wedges. We always recommend beginners to always choose a golf set that offers a Sand Wedge. Wilson’s SGI club set features a very promising “Easy Launch”™ sand wedge featuring a wide sole and low weighting, making greenside control much more favorable. If you’ve read our handicap article, you’d know that your short game is key to dropping your golf score.

Speaking of short-game, the SGI offers an excellent blade putter. Though a mallet putter is recommended for beginners, the heel/toe weighted design of the SGI putter with a soft alignment grip, makes this a putter ideal for those who prefer high feedback, feel, and accuracy.

Finally, with the SGI, you can choose between Petite, Standard, and Tall options. These options target the size of the female golfer. To determine the size for you check Wilson’s size chart breakdown.

Set Includes: Alloy Driver (13˚), Alloy 5-Wood, 5-Hybrid, 6 to 9-Iron, PW and SW, Blade Putter, 3x Headcovers, and Cart or Carry Bag

2. Callaway Women’s Strata Ultimate 14-Piece Golf Set (Best Mix of Amazing Design and Performance)

  • Great for faster swinging beginners
  • “High flight” technology to promote better launch percentage
  • Beautiful design
  • Awesome driver, probably the best one out of all the sets
  • Durable quality
  • Milled face mullet putter which is ideal for beginners
  • 10.5° driver may be harder to use

The Callaway Strata Ultimate Women’s 14-Piece Golf Set is packed with modernized golf technology to give the everyday beginning woman golfer maximum accuracy and forgiveness from every club in the bag.

The set comes with a 16-piece, 14-piece, and 11-piece option. We recommend female beginners side with the 14-piece. Here’s why.

The 16-piece comes with 3 wood and a pair of 4 and 5-hybrids. Personally, I don’t think these clubs are necessary for a beginner. It’s better to go with a more forgiving 5-wood and just one 5-hybrid (as included in the 14-piece set) because the 5-wood is much more forgiving and practical to start with while focusing on just mastering one hybrid is ideal. If you prefer a smaller set to the 14-piece, then we recommend the 11-piece as a reliable second choice. The 11-piece comes with a SW but it doesn’t come with a 6-iron, which most beginners should start practicing with early on. Note, that different golf sets have different specs for their woods including their drivers. The 14-piece also comes with a 14° driver which is ideal for a female beginner.

Note: if you are a lefty, the Strata only comes with the 11-piece option.

Here’s what you get with the 14-piece Strata set by Callaway.

  • 6 to 9-irons which have good perimeter weighting and progressive sole width technology for improved control and easier for beginners to get into the irons game earlier.
  • 14° degree driver with a large face which makes it easier to launch the ball with more forgiveness on golf slices.
  • 5-Hybrid and 5-Wood is a good icing on the cake, for beginners, these are the only woods you would need for now.
  • PW and SW: the extra SW is a good addition to the set that the 11-piece does not have. The SW is easy to use and at 54°, it’s very versatile to use for most yardages within 80 yards.
  • Unlike the Wilson SGI set, the putter on the Strata set is a mallet putter. So, if you want an excellent golf set that comes with a very forgiving putter, the Strata is a good choice.

Set Includes: Driver (10.5°), 5-Wood, 5-Hybrid, 6 to 9-Iron, PW & SW, Mallet Putter, Stand Bag, and 3x Headcovers, and Cart Bag

3. Aspire PRO-X Women’s Golf Club Set (Best Option for Forgiveness)

  • Highly forgiving irons with great perimeter weighting
  • One of the better mallet putters on this list
  • Very well-made graphite shafts that excel the performance of their golf clubs
  • Petite and Regular size options
  • A lot of wood options: Driver, 3-wood, 4 and 5-hybrids
  • There is no sand wedge

You’ve probably never heard of Aspire before, neither did we. But wait! Don’t scroll away just yet because this mysterious golf company has released one of the best golf kits for female beginners to start with.

The Aspire PRO-X Women’s Golf Club Set features an incredible high-quality graphite shaft that’s fitted to all their golf clubs except for the putter. This intricately designed golf shaft is their version of a ‘Ladies’ flex and is what gives their clubs that extra forgiveness to make contact with the ball much easier and overall golf shots more consistent

The driver and two hybrids in the Aspire women’s golf set are extremely well rounded, combining good distance and forgiveness. Having 2 hybrids in a beginner’s golf set is actually a good idea, as we found that it often made more holes and lies playable than a harder-to-use long iron. While the 16° 3-wood made tee-offs more versatile if you’re less comfortable with a driver.

Speaking of irons, the irons are designed with high perimeter weighting that makes mishits straight and easier on the hands. The sweet spots on these irons are always noticeably larger than most irons, which is definitely a plus.

The mallet putter includes alignment notches that really helped in making accurate putts and has a good amount of weight to let you have a good feel for your putts.

So why is it no.3 on this list? Well, even with all the amazing golf clubs this set has to offer, the Aspire set does not include a sand wedge, but instead a pitching wedge. And, if you know us, we always like it when beginners to start practicing with a sand wedge as soon as possible. Pitching wedges are just not that usable in the shorter yardages except for when you decide to hit at the bump-and-run.

To end on a good note, the Aspire set offers two size options for their golfers, Petite and Regular. Plus, their golf bag and color combination for the set is appealing to most younger females.

Set Includes: Titanium F Driver, 3 Fairway Wood, 4 and 5-Hybrids, 7 to 9-Iron, SW, Mallet Putter, 4x Headcovers, and Cart Bag

4. TaylorMade Kalea Women’s Golf Club Set (Best High-Quality Golf Set for Female Beginners)

  • Thru-slot Speed Pockets in their golf clubs
  • Lightweight and high-quality
  • Three color options to pick from
  • Comes with an amazing TaylorMade Spider putter
  • Good for even some mid handicappers
  • The most expensive set on this list

The most premium, yet high-performing women’s golfer club set would be the TaylorMade’s Kalea Women’s Golf Club Set.

This set comes close with many of the best technologies that are used in modern golf clubs on more advanced TaylorMade golf clubs, and have been adapted to excel in a beginner’s golf set on the Kaleas.

One of the most notable aspects of the Kalea Women’s Golf Set is that every club, except for the putter, is fitted with TaylorMade’s iconic Thru-slot Speed Pocket technology. These speed pockets sit in the cavity of the irons, behind the face, and behind the face woods. Essentially, more energy is transferred to the golf ball on impact, making them fly farther without needing to swing faster to compensate for a lack of distance.

Overall, this golf set encourages control and you can rest assured that the Kalea golf clubs would take care of the rest.

The Kalea’s mallet putter is one of the best putters you can get that comes in a beginner’s golf set. The mallet putter is one of TaylorMade’s most popular Spider putters and is customized with the colors of the Kalea. In most cases, Kalea fans keep the putter even when they move to another set of more advanced women’s golf clubs.

Why this golf set is no.4 is because of its price point. Put simply, this set is more than double the price of most of the golf sets on this list. However, for its quality, elegant design, and technology, the price point is justifiable if you’re looking to take these clubs for the long run, all the way to even when you reach a mid-handicap!

Finally, for the stand bag and head covers, you can get the Kalea in either a Gray/Green, Charcol/Blue, or Black/Violet option. For us, we’re going with Gray/Green.

Set Includes: Driver (12˚), 3-Wood (17˚), 5-Wood (20˚), 5-Rescue Hybrid (26˚), 6-Rescue Hybrid (30˚), 7 to 9-Iron, PW and SW, a Spider Putter, 3x Head Covers (Color Options in both), and a stand bag

5. Callaway Solaire Women’s Golf Set (Another Amazing Women’s Golf Set)

  • Lightweight
  • Easily covers distance intervals
  • Incredibly accurate
  • Made for forgiveness and straight shots
  • Often out of stock

The Callaway Women’s Solaire Complete Golf Set (11 Piece) is a fantastic set for female beginners. This set is ideal for beginners learning to play the game and continue to use the set as they develop as a golfer.

The Callaway Solaire Golf Club Set is developed especially for women. The all-in-one set provides the beginning woman golfer everything she could ever need to take her straight from the pro shop to the first tee.

The Callaway Solaire Golf Club Set, constructed for gaining ideal distance and high flights out of various balls’ lies, makes women feel confident that they have the correct club for the next shot.

Unlike most golf sets, it comes with a 6-hybrid which is great for golfers who struggle with a 6-iron, and trust me that’s completely normal for a beginner!

The set contains a straightforward aligning half-mallet style putter. The driver has a light face and rear internal weighting. A triple-line alignment system gives maximum accuracy and consistency on each swing.

The fairway and hybrid also feature more pronounced faces to elevate your launch, while perimeter-weighted irons maximize your forgiveness on mishits landing more balls on the fairway

Set Includes: Driver (13.5˚), 3-Wood (17˚), 5-Hybrid (26˚), 6-Hybrid (29˚), 7 to 9-iron, PW, SW, Mallet Putter, 3x Head Covers, and  Cart Bag

How to Choose the Right Set of Beginner Golf Clubs for Lady

Understanding what makes these clubs good for beginners is always a great idea. They are big investments after all. Below are the criteria we used to determine the best beginner golf clubs set for ladies and would act as a good guide for you when considering which set to get.

Best Set Composition for Female Beginners

The best set of clubs you can have for a women’s golf set is the following:

  1. A 460cc driver with a higher loft (13˚ is great)
  2. A 3 or 5-wood
  3. At least one hybrid
  4. Having the 6, 7, 8, and 9-iron is ideal
  5. Having a sand wedge is highly recommended
  6. Mallet putter over a blade putter
  7. We recommend a stand bag over a cart bag (more convenient and lightweight)

By default, all beginner sets should come with a pitching wedge, a set of 7 to 9-irons, a driver, and a hybrid. If not, dump it.

Drivers Must be Forgiving

Learning to hit a driver is going to be one of the most annoying and challenging aspects for a beginner. However, it is also one of the most essential parts of your game to get right as it is the club you would use most when you’re on the tee.

That said, for a beginner, stressing too much on distance for the driver would end up slicing more shots than they could afford. Consistency and learning to nail the sweet spot are key.

To start, a driver with a higher loft of roughly 13˚ is perfect, that’s one of the main reasons why the Wilson SGI Women’s Golf Clubs Set tops the Callaway Strata Ultimate Women’s 14-Piece Golf Set. A higher loft driver just makes your experience so much better and ensures you don’t gain a phobia for the big stick which many golfers do because they buy a 9.5˚ driver as their first driver.

The driver from the Strata set, however, is a 10.5˚. That’s on the lower spectrum that we would recommend, however, it is the most played driver out there and is also considered ‘forgiving’ to an average golfer. So, if you want to get used to a more advanced driver early, here’s an option for you.

A Reliable 3-Wood or 5-Wood

We mentioned earlier that many golfers have something we like to call the driver-phobia. As golfers ourselves, we understand why so many golfers fear the big stick. It’s ridiculously hard to get right and is probably the no.1 handicap ruiner for beginners and high handicappers down at the golf course.

Forcing yourself to hit the driver at the golf course is not productive, practical, and enjoyable. For most, teeing off with a 3-wood or 5-wood can make things a lot easier. Fairway woods, are the ‘mini-drivers’ if you want to put it that way. Besides the driver, they’re the second longest category of golf clubs and are used more on tee-offs than on fairways for most average golfers because they are a lot more consistent and do not lack the distance to set you up for a quality second shot with your irons.

In beginner golf sets, a 3-wood and/or a 5-wood is ideal. With your fairway woods, we recommend playing with no lower than 17˚ whichever wood in these golf sets complies with. Having a higher loft wood makes tee-offs much easier, and attempts on fairway much easier to learn.

Hybrids are Great

We like hybrids in a beginner’s golf set and in some cases, a 6-hybrid replacing the 6-iron is a good choice. However, that’s where we draw the line, if the set has a 6-iron instead, that’s fine. However, everything lower should be in the form of a hybrid. Hybrids replace longer irons which are extremely hard to play with. Hybrids were designed to generate the same distance for its respected iron while much easier to hit with so it is optimal for beginners to start with.

For a beginner’s golf set for women, a set of 7 to 9-irons is standard. Having an extra 6-iron is even better, but if not, it should replace the 6-iron with a 6-hybrid.

Say it with Me, “I LOVE Sand Wedges!”

Did I tell you that I love sand wedges in a beginner golf set? Sand wedges are the most played wedge out of all the wedges. If you’re not fluent with what wedges are out there, we got the Lob Wedge, Sand Wedge, Gap Wedge, and Pitching Wedge (ordered from highest loft to lowest loft).

Experienced golfers know that golf is defined by how well you play within 150 yards. This is particularly true for a wedge that becomes exponentially more important to help you play well within 100 yards. The sand wedge is the best club for female golfers who can play it within 90 yards. Within that distance, it’s all about control. A pitching wedge has too much loft and the amount of roll generated from a PW is not good for this. Having a sand wedge in your golf set will really dial in your game and make you a significantly better golfer. Trust me.

Mallet Putters Are Ideal

Learning to putt well early is crucial for beginners. Putting may look simple, but for low handicappers, it’s what set the good from the great.

Mallet putters are usually the go-to for beginners compared to blade putters. If you don’t know what the difference between the two is, here’s a visual of what I mean.

As you can see, mallet putters are wider and are usually heavier, promoting a better feel during a putting stroke. However, blade putters provide more feedback and feel on impact, which will tell a seasoned golfer exactly how he hit his last shot on the putter and allows him to adjust accordingly.

For a beginner, a blade putter is often unnecessary as it doesn’t really help in promoting the ‘feel’ of the right putter stroke. A mallet putter does. In the female golf sets above, the best mallet putter would be from the TaylorMade’s Kalea Women’s Golf Club Set. The putter in hear is TaylorMade’s famous Spider putter and can be used even when you move on from the set.

Why do most beginner golf sets substitute longer irons for hybrids?

Longer irons include the 3 to 5-irons and these are by far the least used golf clubs by a beginner, high handicapper, and in some cases even some mid-handicappers. That’s because they’re extremely challenging to hit.

Golf manufacturers know how unpopular longer irons are for beginners, so they’ve come up with a hybrid of the driver and iron. Essentially, crossing the features of both types of clubs makes the hybrid deliver just as much distance as its coinciding long iron, with the ease of launch from a wood. Therefore, most female beginner golf sets will offer hybrids over long irons.

Must I play with a Ladies Flex?

No, you don’t have to play with a Ladies shaft. In fact, it annoys me when people fit a Ladies shaft right away for a female golfer.

That said, this statement is more so true if you’ve been playing golf for some time. If you’re just starting off, regardless if you’re a female or male, a Ladies Flex is a great option to start with. Its lightweight and more flexible design make it ideal for beginners with a slower swing speed.

Therefore, we are recommending you start with a Ladies flex not because you’re a female, but because it’s a good option for all beginners.

When Should I move on from a beginner’s golf set?

That depends on you. These women’s golf clubs are good until you reach a high handicap (roughly 22 to 30 over par), with many still playing with the Kalea’s even at a mid handicap.

That said, we recommend you stick around with them for the next 2 to 3 years at the maximum, that is if you’ve been practicing regularly and are way beyond a beginner’s level.

The good thing is that these sets are always on demand and easily resellable. Once using them for a year or two, post them on any online platform and I’m sure someone would gladly take them off your hands in no time!

Complete Starter Set or Individual Clubs?

For a beginner, starting with a complete starter set is not only less troublesome, but the clubs in that set are actually better.

Individual clubs are more expensive and riskier for beginners who don’t know what they should be looking for in a golf club. Complete starter set fits the majority of beginners, as it is designed specifically to help those starting the sport to learn their golf swing, golf swing plane, and game sense better.

The Verdict

There you have it, the 5 best women’s golf clubs for beginners with the Wilson SGI Women’s Golf Clubs Set taking the number 1 seat. Regardless of which golf set you end up choosing on this site, remember they all have their pros and cons, so pick one that fits you. Some have an amazing putter, some come with a sand wedge, and some are just better overall. However, as a beginner, I won’t stress too much about these aspects, but get one of these sets and get your foot forward with golf! That’s what’s most important!

We wish you the best in your practices.
